Mission

Our mission is to promote the academic and extracurricular success of students by providing them with the support & tools necessary to independently develop & accomplish post-secondary goals.

Background

Launch Mentorship developed as an idea when Eric Licona and Fares Ali (Co-CEOs) became frustrated at the resources and mentoring that were offered to them at their former high school.
As Eric and Fares entered Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt University, they saw the result of proper mentorship and resource allocation.

Many of their peers at their post-secondary institutions came from communities where they enjoyed an abundance of support and investment from their teachers/parents to help prepare them for the institutions they are at today. These are luxuries that many first-generation and low-income high school graduates do not always have access to. LAUNCH Mentorship was created to provide more guidance and assistance surrounding the transition to post-secondary life. By providing this assistance in lower-income communities, we hope to expand access to more resources that can help students reach success in the future.

Impact

We help students identify the opportunities available to them by demystifying the college application process. We seek to break down this intimidating process of finding the right college & major' into digestible steps. Our trained mentors, who are all from Vanderbilt University, support our students in their college application journey.

Needs

Donated funds will go towards transportation for mentors, food for mentors and students, and other costs that may arise during our programming. Our programming includes various mentoring sessions within Antioch High School throughout the year, as well as the annual Nash Bash event. The Nash Bash is a large annual event that brings the community together and provides resources for students. There are giveaways, welcome tables, meet and greets, and activities that support students throughout the community. LAUNCH Mentorship aims to connect with other organizations to execute this event with the use of donations and funding to make Nash Bash happen. Any donations would help LAUNCH Mentorship continue and expand our programming throughout the year.
