Mission
Equipping women and their children to thrive after trauma.
Background
I have had a front row seat at seeing the effects that trauma and adverse childhood experiences can have on people. They can carry this pain with them for the rest of their lives. My oldest son is from a previous relationship. His relationship with his father has been tumultuous. He still struggles to manage his pain. I also adopted a daughter when she was 5 days old. She was born out of a sex trafficking situation. Her birth mom still continues to struggle in life as a result of her own adverse childhood experiences (ACE). She has a 7 year old daughter who lives with her...her daughter struggles in the atmosphere of chaos. I can only help this 7 year old so much, but if I could help her mother, then I could help change the trajectory of this family tree. After deciding the goal was to help children who have experienced ACE's, I started meeting with people in our community to figure out what the real need was. I started to understand that the real need was to have a place for women to heal along with their children. So, as a result of seeing this huge need, God birthed the idea of E.L.I.'s House to help meet this dire need here in the Nashville area.
Impact
One goal is to have trauma informed training for all staff. We hope to complete our therapeutic curriculum, using Equine Therapy and trauma informed therapists. We hope to develop 10 or more partnerships with other like-minded organizations within the current year. We desire to have 5-6 women with their children to begin experiencing our program by the end of September 2022, and hope to retain these women and children for the duration of the program. For the current year, our goal is to raise all funds needed for our operational needs.
Needs
1. Complete our interim home renovations, with all needed furnishings.
2. We need 50+ volunteers to begin our programming with excellence.
3. Fill our interim home with 5-6 women and their children who are in need.
4. To raise capital and operational funding for our fiscal year.
5. Training all in trauma informed care.
