Mission
Easter Seals Tennessee's mission is to provide exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their community.
Background
Since 1923, Easter Seals Tennessee has provided services to help children and adults with disabilities engage as fully as possible in family and community life, education, work, and recreation. The statewide agency is one of 83 affiliates of Easter Seals National, headquartered in Chicago, IL. With multiple program sites across the state, services in Tennessee include camping and recreation; community participation; adult community services; personal assistance; supported employment training, placement, and assistance; and supported living. In march 2022, Prospect was merged into Easter Seals Tennessee. Prospect had been providing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Wilson, DeKalb and Smith Counties since 1967. This merger provides the combined entity with new opportunities to add services which will continue to focus on the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Impact
Whether helping someone improve physical mobility, return to work or simply gain greater independence for everyday living, Easter Seals offers a variety of services to help people with disabilities, address life's challenges and achieve personal goals. Yearly, Easter Seals Tennessee provides direct services to nearly 2000 children and adults across the state. By contributing to the building of brighter souls in sounder bodies, Easter Seals Tennessee hopes to build a society where everyone is accepted, included and provided the opportunity to achieve their potential no matter what their ability.

CEO Statement
Today, because of your support, we continue with an unwavering belief in our mission to ensure that we continue to provide exceptional services to people with disabilities and special needs, supporting them as they live, work, learn and play in our community while at the same time being good stewards of our resources. By focusing on our core service lines and collaborating with other organizations, we have set forth on a course that will allow the greatest opportunities for people with disabilities to receive the supports they need in our community. Through a partnership with the YMCA Camp Widjiwagan Easterseals TN continues to focus on our camping and respite program. Respite and Camping serves not only the needs of the camper, it also gives caregivers who support loved ones 24 hours a day 7 days a week time to refresh and recharge. Our supported living, adult day center and supported employment programs continue to serve individuals with intellectual disabilities supporting them in their quest to become productive members of their communities. Looking to our future, Easter Seals is addressing the necessity of specialized programs for our returning military heroes who may have been disabled while serving in Iraq, and the need for programs that address the gap in services for those affected with Autism Spectrum Disorder. We hope that you will join in our efforts to support people with disabilities throughout our community.
