Mission

The Lisa Ross Parker Foundation strives to honor the charitable legacy of cancer victim Lisa Ross Parker by continuing to pursue her charitable passions within the meaning of section 501(c)(3), including (but not limited to) assisting and caring for adult patients with leukemia, lymphoma and other blood-related cancers, and their families. To this end, we work to ease the burden of families of cancer patients who require an extended stay at the hospital for treatment. In addition, we strive to honor Lisa's charitable legacy by assisting with charitable animal welfare and supporting other animal advocacy organizations that follow the same principles within the meaning of section 501(c)(3). To this end, we provide additional support to other charitable organizations dedicated to the protection of animals from cruelty and disease, and we provide specific assistance to animals in need of protection.

Background

A hospital stay is stressful enough for families without expenses incurred outside of treatment; whether it's paying for gas to commute between home and the hospital, finding an affordable meal locally, or finding affordable lodging. We provide leukemia and other blood-related cancer patients with 'Hospital Survival Packs' stocked with various item such as pre-paid credit cards, vouchers for local restaurants, snacks , books, magazines, and other items to help families in their time of need. We also provide small (generally $750) cash grants to assist patients who demonstrate financial need during their treatment. We also arrange, by soliciting donations of time or by providing monetary payment, for professionals to provide supplementary assistance for cancer patients in addition to their medical treatment, such as massage therapy. We seek to assist these distressed individuals in simple, practical ways that may be overlooked by other cancer-related assistance organizations.
