Description
Today, more than ever, children are spending more time indoors connected to personal devices than they are in the great outdoors. A growing body of evidence shows there are many benefits for children who play frequently in nature, including increased creativity and ability to concentrate, resilience to stress, better scores in school, improved fitness and coordination, and overall good health. For many children, Owl's Hill is their first hands-on experience with nature. Owl's Hill annually serves 6,000 Middle Tennessee students, teachers and chaperones through field trip programs to Owl's Hill and in-school outreach programs. School program run 60-90 minutes and always include a guided interpretive hike through some of the protected and diverse habitats at Owl's Hill. School programs align with Tennessee Science and Ecology curriculum standards. Specialized programs also support State Social Studies, Math, English, Art and Physical Education curriculum standards.
