Description
CiViL provides social-emotional development to high school students in a non-religious format. CiViL serves the needs of students, no matter their race, creed or color. CiViL helps students work through the problems that impede good choices in a safe small group setting that meets weekly. In Nashville, CiViL draws from predominantly low income neighborhoods. Approximately 75% of the student participants live in subsidized housing and qualify for free or reduced lunch. Students struggle with all the typical problems of the urban poor: malnutrition, family violence, crime & gang issues, physical and sexual abuse/neglect, addiction, low self esteem, and hopelessness. Group facilitators help students work through these problems. CiViL serves approximately sixty students and their families each year.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

While Touchstone's centerpiece program is CiViL, we are proud of all our work in speaking, counseling, and music. Touchstone has been working to better the lives of students and adults through these services since 1987.
