Description
The Food Security Program proactively addresses food insecurity in our community by distributing pet food directly to clients most in need. Our food security manager delivers approximately 1,500 meals per week to food insecure households. Additionally, the program provides pet food to area food pantries, including Metro Animal Care and Control, the Martha O'Bryan Center, and St. Luke's Community House, so that families throughout our community have access to free pet food.

Description
PCC operates a PFL program in partnership with the Humane Society of the United States. PFL is a long-term approach to dealing with the complexities of living in poverty. The outreach program serves people and pets living in underserved communities by increasing access to resources and information. PFL is a revolutionary approach extending support to communities that are isolated from pet service providers. The program utilizes door-to-door outreach with a focus on building relationships, trust, and connections with people and their pets. Through the program, PCC provides free spay/neuter services, preventive veterinary care, pet supplies, transportation support, and information with residents of the program focus area, North Nashville (zip codes include 37207, 37208, and 37218). Since the program's launch in Nashville, we have spayed/neutered 1,974 pets.

Description
The goal of the Community Cat Program is to humanely reduce the population of the estimated 50,000 outdoor, unowned cats in Davidson County. Community cats produce 80% or more of the kittens flooding Nashville shelters with unowned animals. PCC offers trap-neuter-return services for community cats and provides a free loan of humane live traps, coaching, spay/neuter, vaccination, ear tipping, and on-going outdoor care support to 2,500 cats annually. Cat intake at the shelter has fallen 44% since the PCC clinic opened in 2014.
