Description
To date, we are the largest door to door charitable/hunger relief program of its type in Nashville. Our service provides much needed food, personal care items (soap, shampoo, feminine needs, bathroom tissue, baby wipes, diapers), and household items (appliances, laundry detergent, furniture, beds, clothing) for residents and homeless people who have limited abilities for obtaining it elsewhere. Each month we unite dozens of volunteers to deliver this charitable aid to entire low-income communities. The Walk of Love serves communities at various locations, but we are dedicated to Napier-Sudekum every month.

Program Successes
Within the past year, the Walk of Love safely served entire low-income communities and low-income motels in south, north and east Nashville regardless of surges in Nashville Covid infections.

Beneficiaries
Economically disadvantaged people
Adults
K-12 (5-19 years)
Long-term Success
Our long-term goal is to develop a quarterly supply of charitable aid to serve all of MDHA's traditional low-income communities along with families living in motels.

Short-term Success
We have developed a Fresh Market Walk of Love, which includes a weekly congregate giveaway of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Program Success Monitored By
We frequently interview residents and homeless individuals effected by our efforts. Elijah's Heart has also been the focus of several well-known local and national commendations for nonprofit service, demonstrating the impact that we've had in the Nashville and Middle Tennessee area. For example, this past November and December, our CEO (Papa Joe Bradford) was interviewed on the popular "Today In Nashville" TV show and the national "Good Morning America" TV show, representing the success of Elijah's Heart.

UNITY PRODUCTIONS is our musical arts program consisting of voice, choir, drama and dance catered to children whose gifts flow in performing arts. We serve youth of various races and especially focus on youth who may not be able to afford a formal music program. Each rehearsal, the children are not only trained in the arts, but also learn discipline, unity, respect and love for one another. Over the years, UNITY performances have touched the hearts of thousands. Experienced instructors in voice, choir, dance and drama train the youth in our program. We develop each child's ability especially in the area(s) that they are most gifted. The youth are trained to perform their talents in unity with others. We schedule various types of performances to give our youth a range of experience, such as concert halls, churches, fundraising events and studio recordings.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

MDHA is working to bridge the Napier and Sudekum communities into one large unit that will eventually result in the rebuilding of the two large communities into one neighborhood. As an agency residing inside the heart of the community, we have multipurpose room space, computer room space, an office, kitchen and miscellaneous space that's used to provide food supplement, literacy enhancement, musical art training and other needs for the community. Our frequency of seeing the residents has allowed us to develop relationship with the families that serves as a key to bring welcomed support.
