Description
This program is designed to provide support for CBSW families during the holiday season. Priority is given to families who complete an application demonstrating their need.

Long-term Success
The hope is that the Giving Tree is able to extend beyond the CBSW members and allies generously giving, but that we could partner with local churches who would also adopt our families during the holidays.
Short-term Success
The Giving Tree Program continues to grow, and each year we add more families and more funding to this initiative.
Program Success Monitored By
The Board Chair and Giving Tree Committee monitor the program. The program is deemed successful if all families requesting funds are able to receive their items on their wish lists.

Description
The CBSW currently has two campus chapters at the University of Tennessee College and the University of Memphis. The chapters are a place of refuge for social work students to engage in training opportunities, service and social events, and to support groups.

Being recognized by the university for excellence.
Having the majority of student members matched with a professional mentor
Having social work students recognize the CBSW as a safe space.
Meeting immediate needs of students through our scholarship and Giving Tree Program.

Long-term Success
Both campus chapters are active and in good standing with student leadership teams and faculty advisors. Both chapters have a demonstrated history of service to the campus and community, as well as providing critical trainings around issues relevant to social work and today's climate for Black students.
Short-term Success
The University of Tennessee chapter has been recognized for its success in 2020 and 2021 by the university for its excellence as a student organization.
Program Success Monitored By
There are evaluations provided at most of the trainings held by students, but most of the success comes from student self-reports.

Description
Each year, the CBSW hosts a low-cost conference featuring prominent Black social workers leading workshops and seminars. The conference also offers opportunities to highlight Black-owned businesses and agencies in the community who support and uplift Black issues.

Long-Term, we plan to increase our conference reach by engaging Black social workers and their allies in the expansion of their knowledge about Black issues.
Short-term Success
Short Term, we have hosted two conferences (one in person and on virtually) and reached 100 participants each year.

Each workshop has program evaluations that measure the success of each session and the overall conference.

Description
The CBSW gives scholarship money to students pursuing their BSW, MSW, DSW, or PhD in social work. The scholarship process requires an extensive application and an interview process.
Program Successes
In the first annual James and Elaine Legacy Scholarship Program, three students were chosen as recipients.

Long-Term: We will increase our scholarship giving by 15% over the next 5 years.
Short-term Success
Short-Term: We will continue to build our scholarship fund so that we can increase the amount of scholarships provided to students by the CBSW.

The Board of Directors will monitor the scholarship program.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

We continue to have more students join our organization. With this we are always looking for Social Workers to serve as mentors to guide them through their foundation years in the field. This is both a challenge and an opportunity as we grow.
