Description
Nashville Predators Foundation Grant - Bright Heart Foundation uses the grant money for in-kind donations that fill a wish list curated by nurses within the PCICU at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. Children that live in Middle Tennessee and suffer from CHD spend much of their life inpatient at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. These comfort tools go a long way to life their spirits, encourage their parents and support teams and spread awareness about CHD.
Program Successes
The children receive comforts of home to ease the scary, sterile environment of hospitalization.
Those items also lets the parents feel like they are in a nursery-like setting to relieve anxiety and increase hope in them.

Description
Babies with CHD experience developemental delays due to their extended hospital stays and initial focus on just surviving their defects and complications that come with treatment. Bright Heart Foundation is working with Vanderbilt Outpatient and Inpatient Speech, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists. We provide them with tools that can be used on patients to further their development needs. We hope to equip the therapists with everything they need to help those babies/ children/ teens 'THRIVE' once they are outpatient.

Children are able to move more, interact more and communicate where they didn't have opportunities before.

The therapists are reporting back increased care and success for the children fighting the setbacks caused by Congenital Heart Defects as well as increased mental status of their families and healthcare team members.

ALIVE Program is designed to help the patient, families and care team live beyond the diagnosis of CHD. To cope with CHD being part of their lives, but not taking over their whole world.
This program is currently being funded by private donations.

Long-term Success
We are helping children, families, adults, and healthcare team members cope with the trauma caused by Congenital Heart Defects. We are enabling people to heal in order to keep families together, siblings a place to express feelings, marriages to stay united, and healthcare team members committed to their careers.
Short-term Success
We are providing a service that did not otherwise exist for the people who have experienced trauma and financial setbacks to to Congenital Heart Defects.
