Mission
With values of faith and excellence, we nurture children in an engaging, safe, and inclusive learning environment as we serve our families, personnel, and local communities, regardless of financial status.
Background
The King's Daughters Day Home opened in January of 1966 with a mission to provide excellent child care at a low cost to families facing financial challenges. Currently, care is offered to children ages 6 weeks to up to 5 years of age. Our goal is to ensure enhanced child care and family support services for children regardless of their caretaker's ability to pay.
Impact
In the past year, King's Daughters Child Development Center (KDCDC) celebrated several key accomplishments. Our graduates were assessed as kindergarten-ready, a testament to the quality of our early childhood education programs. We also fully reopened our center to family engagement activities, welcoming families back to volunteer, participate in workshops, and engage in our child-centered events. Additionally, we have improved the safety of our premises by installing security cameras, upgrading safety doors, and enhancing our fencing to better protect our children and staff.
Looking ahead, we have several goals for the coming year:
Open another classroom to accommodate more children and reduce the waitlist.
Achieve full staffing levels, ensuring that all of our classrooms are fully supported by qualified teachers and assistants.
Increase enrichment opportunities for both children and families, offering more diverse learning experiences that foster creativity and engagement.
Extend our creative arts summer camp by an additional week for school-age children, allowing them more time to explore the arts in a fun, educational setting.
These initiatives reflect our commitment to growth, safety, and providing a high-quality learning environment for every child we serve.
Needs
King's Daughters Child Development Center's top five pressing needs are:
Operational funds to cover salaries that bridge the gap between the cost of services provided to families and the true cost of delivering those services.
Volunteers to assist with building repairs, interior painting, and upkeep of our gardens and landscape.
Funds for building repairs to improve and maintain our existing facilities, ensuring they remain safe and functional for children, staff, and families.
Allocate funds to provide ongoing professional development for teachers, ensuring they are equipped with the latest best practices in early childhood education. Offering competitive salaries and retention incentives is crucial to maintaining a high-quality staff.
Establishing a fund to support families experiencing unexpected financial hardship, ensuring their children can remain in care without interruption.
These needs reflect our ongoing mission to provide affordable, high-quality childcare while ensuring that our facilities and programs continue to meet the needs of the community.
CEO Statement
At King's Daughters Child Development Center, we remain deeply committed to supporting our families not only through early childhood education but also by addressing the broader needs that impact their well-being. We recognize that many of our families face food insecurity, so we regularly assist with necessities when needed. As we move forward, one of our aspirations is to establish a more formalized program that connects families with resources and community support systems to help them thrive.
Our uniqueness as an organization lies in our holistic approach to family engagement and child development. We prioritize continued enrichment opportunities for children, such as gardening projects that foster curiosity about nature and hands-on learning experiences. These activities are integral to our emergent curriculum, which adapts to children's interests and developmental needs, providing them with a rich, stimulating learning environment.
As we continue to grow and evolve, we are proud of the nurturing community we've built at KDCDC, where every child is valued, and every family is supported. Our commitment to excellence and inclusivity drives everything we do, and we remain focused on ensuring that all children, regardless of background, have access to the high-quality education they deserve.
