Description
We have just completed this program for the 2nd year. We had over 100 people in attendance both virtual and in person. The primary objective of this event is to convene the diverse viral hepatitis community to amplify the voices of person with lived experience (PWLE) and enhance our understanding of the needs of the communities we serve. By engaging PWLE in identifying strategies and best practices we aim to reduce the disease burden and promote health equity. I was able to co-chair this event with Susanna Masartis, CEO of the Community Liver Alliance in Pittsburgh. This event was Suzanna's original idea and I have been involved for the past 2 years. Our Committee members included people from University of Buffalo, NASTAD, CCACC as well as some local Health Departments and Harm Reduction communities. We shared Real-World best practices for meaningful engagement strategies with people with lived experience. We also were able to identify strategies to reduce disparity.
Program Successes
Met with the Harm Reduction ED from KY and she will be part of our Panel for the Patient Meeting we will be holding in KY this fall.

Long-term Success
This is the 2nd year of the event and we had over 100 people participate in the 2 day educational and awareness event. Because our event shared some PWLE in the line up we had some great discussions and learning opportunities for those serving this community.

Long-term Success
This is a great meeting for the patients in those general areas and a great way to introduce the Mid South Liver Alliance (MSLA) and what we are about. Many patients have stepped forward to help me increase the awareness and education we have available for those suffering from chronic liver disease. There programs are helping me to increase my people that are willing to step forward and help me educate and build awareness around CLD especially fatty liver disease and MASH.

Description
The Mid South Liver Alliance Medical Advisory Board oversees the programming that we are developing for the agency. On October 28, 2021 we held our first professional program (Liver Focus) on Risk factors: Diagnosis and Management of Liver Cancer. We had 40 people throughout our 6 states sign up to come to your online symposium. The night of the event we had 15 people attend and get CME credits. The symposium targeted Hepatologist, Gastroenterologists, Internal Medicine and Primary Care Physicians, NP, RN's, and PA's that work with liver patients. We had 3 doctors from different states talk in regards to the Hepatologist, Radiologist and transplant Doctor perspectives. We offered updated information on diagnosis and treatment for Liver cancer.

Long-term Success
We hope to have 4 -6 Liver focus events each year and target the PCP,s NP, GI's and other medical professionals to keep them up to date on current treatment options. We are also hoping to educate them on the importance of getting those diagnosed with NAFLD working towards dropping 10% of their weight to help the liver in regeneration for those in the early stages of the disease.

We hope to have at least 1 - 2 patient programs in each of our states over the next year to educate and increase the awareness of liver disease. Did you know that if you have obesity or diabetes you are at risk for developing NAFLD (non alcoholic fatty liver disease) which in some instances can lead to fibrosis , then cirrhosis and may need a liver transplant to survive? It's important that if you have these disease you get tested for NAFLD and understand the signs. Chronic Liver Disease can be a silent killer and we need to increase awareness and education on this disease.
Short-term Success
After being in existence for 8 months we were able to hold our first Liver Focus and provided much needed information on liver cancer to many of our PCP's and NP in the market. This year we reached over 30 people with this program As we continue to build these programs through our states we hope to reach 250 in 2022.
Program Success Monitored By
Success will be monitored in the number of attendees and those that request more information on liver disease down the road. We hope to increase our numbers of attendees across the south by 88 % in 2022.
