CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments
The Board is composed of people who understand and support the mission of the NJW and who bring helpful skills, contacts, or resources to the organization. Because of the importance of understanding the mission, Board members are selected carefully, usually after a period of involvement with the Workshop in another capacity (faculty, student, audience member, supporter). The Board currently has 12 members, with 14 honorary (emeritus) members. A challenge has been to expand and strengthen the Board to reflect the growing size, complexity, and needs of the organization. The number of Board members has been increased, and Board members have been added who have specialized talents such as real estate, finance, and banking. Maintaining diversity on the Board has been an ongoing challenge, but has been addressed successfully over many years through care and intentional recruitment. A recent Board addition has been an individual who has expertise in increasing organizational diversity. This will help us improve diversity throughout the organization. Other recent Board additions include individuals skilled in finance and accounting, who have helped us improve accounting practices and develop more sophisticated budgeting. |
