CCSI is a self-sufficiency program that provides financial education and counseling, facilitates the development of social, spiritual, and economic health in it's participants, and ultimately breaks cycles of defeating habits and helps replace them with those that serve participants well. CCSI exists to offer second chances, transform lives and build legacies of self-sufficiency, to empower low to moderate income families and communities to reach a level of economic stability. CCSI is unique in it's approach and has become known for it's capacity to build relationships of trust and for providing services that teach, coach, and encourage participants on their journey of becoming, in a way that helps them achieve the goals they have set for themselves. With a staff of 3 full-time employees CCSI operates a 9 month mentoring program, quarterly financial workshops and homebuyer education workshops, quarterly post-Mentoring Towards Independence Savers Club workshops and monthly individual financial counseling for workshop participants. The CCSI Basic Financial Training (BFT) workshop model is mobile, and we have begun discussions of offering BFT in other settings, such as prisons or programs where other populations might benefit by preparing them for success and/or re-entry into an ever changing society. The CCSI Board reviewed and updated the strategic plan, and policy manual during 2017-2018. Currently, the strategic plan focuses on branding and marketing awareness, strengthening infrastructure so that we can serve increasing participant needs, and development efforts so that we can increase and diversify our donor base for prudent sustainability. CCSI has proven that a small organization, can make a BIG difference. We can make a dent in poverty and help families overcome barriers to self-sufficiency. Through mentoring, encouragement, asset assistance, financial education and behavior modification, families can overcome debt and credit obstacles to become self-sufficient homeowners or increase income and wellbeing through avenues of education or business ownership. This process is time intensive and is not easily achieved. Quantitative numbers don't adequately represent the impact. However, CCSI continues to strengthen tracking systems and case management to report qualitative and quantitative outcomes. We have also continued working to further reduce expenses, realign personnel to focus on strengths thus alleviating some contract personnel and increasing the use of volunteers in certain program areas.
