Mission
Our mission is the serve Christ by assisting parents in providing students with a challenging, college-preparatory education taught from a nondenominational biblical worldview that develops the whole person into a Christ-like leader in the home, church, and community.
Background
Donelson Christian Academy (DCA), a nonprofit corporation located in Donelson, Tennessee, was established in 1971 as an nondenominational Christian school. Donelson Christian Academy's integration of faith and learning in a college-preparatory context provides an ideal environment to ground students in Biblical Truth, challenge students in the midst of a caring community, and equip students to serve. DCA educates students from preschool through the twelfth grade.
Impact
Founded in 1971 Non-denominational Christian School Preschool through 12th grades Students at Donelson Christian Academy have a wide range of available programs including:* Students may receive a full year of college credits taking dual enrollment and Advanced Placement (AP) classes. (A total of eleven AP courses and four dual enrollment courses are offered).* Completing over 2,400 hours of community service as a group through senior Bible.* Every 6th -12th grade student has their own school provided iPad.* State championships in football, baseball, basketball, bowling, tennis, soccer, cheerleading, and golf.* Over 60% of our seniors participated in athletics their senior year to help lead their teams.* Fine Arts students excel in choral music, drama, art, and band.* Marching and concert bands which expanded the performing arts program.* An international program welcoming students from China.* Over 98% of graduating seniors attend the college of their choice, and elementary students were scoring in the upper ten percent in the nation.
Needs
Overall, our greatest need is funding in the following areas: 1. Significantly increase funding for resources for teachers and students based on school priorities.2. Support for DCA's Endowment Fund so that teacher salaries can be increased and money will be available for professional development.3. Expansion and enhancement of extra-curricular activities.4. Support for on-going capital infrastructure improvements.5. DCA needs a self contained, expanded area for the Preschool program that educates children from twelve-months through pre-kindergarten.
CEO Statement
Donelson Christian Academy (DCA) is a rigorous, college-preparatory Christian school that has served the Nashville, Tennessee community for nearly fifty years. The school educates over 800 students from 12-month-old preschool to grade twelve. The program is college-preparatory in that it provides a strong curriculum in English, foreign language, mathematics, science, and social studies in a technologically advanced setting. It is Christian in that it recognizes the Bible as the final authority in matters of life and thought. Additionally, it has a rigorous series of Christian Studies courses for students in each grade level. Students are encouraged to develop a worldview that integrates the Christian faith with all areas of learning. The Academy aims to develop graduates who are grounded in the Truth, challenged within a supportive community, transformed by the renewing of their minds, and equipped to serve as Christ-like leaders in their homes, churches, and communities.
