Mission

International Outreach Ministries was founded to improve the physical and moral conditions of children and families. We seek to empower each person to achieve stability, self-sufficiency, self-esteem and hope for the future through the provision of education and outreach services locally and abroad. We specifically provide food and resources to struggling families from our food pantry. Additionally, we provide educational resources in the form of GED preparatory classes, computer literacy training, and basic math tutoring. Our goal is to assist families in becoming self-sufficient and hopeful during difficult times.

Background

IOM was in operation as early as 2000. With the success of its various programs, the organization incorporated in January 2001 and received its 501c3 statuses in July 2002 for the purposes of providing the following outreach programs and services: feeding program to address food inequities, emergency shelter for the homeless, summer enrichment programs for youth and young adults, prison outreach program to assist those who were once incarcerated get re-acclimated to society, after-school tutorial programs, HIV/AIDS outreach and education programs. Additionally, IOM supports orphanages and sponsors children to post-secondary schools. We provide a host of outreach programs and volunteer opportunities for adults as well.

Impact

International Outreach Ministries is a ministry that cares. With a global vision and broad impact, IOM seeks to reach people of all socioeconomic statuses, backgrounds, and ethnicities. We feed the homeless, nurture our youth, equip and empower the less fortunate, and educate the next generation. Our ministry knows no strangers; we are all friends in the Body of Christ.

Needs

Our original headquarters was located in South Nashville, just two blocks from a public housing project. Residents in the immediate vicinity were considered to be below the poverty level. The income for the demographic we are targeting falls below 60% of the median income for Nashville. The families face challenges and obstacles such as: low income, lack of transportation, limited access to food, little parental involvement, lack of access to after-school care and recreational activities.

IOM needs financial partners who will identify with the vision of our organization and commit to sponsoring food items, transportation, educational materials, clothes, and the like so that we can broaden our reach and better assist those in need.
