Description
Nashville's students are creative and innovative. They are filled with stories from their lived experiences and from their imaginations. Each one is a fountain of untapped potential. Script to Screen wants to tap into this potential. By using the students' existing creativity and curiosity, we engage them in an authentic literacy experience as they write a script and create their own short film.

Facilitated by a film expert and a literacy expert, students take a journey to make a movie. They use traditional script-writing tools and techniques to turn these story elements into a script. In between these intentional literacy experiences, students have a hands-on introduction to the technical side of filmmaking. The final product premieres at a community-wide, red carpet event.

As a result of this program, students have a more positive attitude towards literacy and have improved their literacy skills.

Description
We believe that many people who live in underserved and under-resourced communities have the passion, creativity, and hustle needed to become successful small business owners. The Academy is designed to walk them through the business creation process so they can plan, launch and grow their small business. These small businesses will then offer additional income to graduates (creating part-time/weekend jobs for themselves) and those they hire as their business grows. Over time this cycle of business creation, growth, and hiring will lead to economic development in neighborhoods often overlooked by traditional entrepreneurial startup/impact centers.

But The Academy goes beyond the initial start-up process for new businesses. With The Academy Amplified, we continue supporting program alumni with mentorship and learning opportunities. Entrepreneurs have the opportunity to apply for small loans to cover start-up costs through The Academy Invested.

Description
The Corner to Corner Coalition exists as an alliance of people who believe that we are made in the image of God; through his spirit, we are actively working to create a more just and equitable Nashville. We also believe that we are all scar-givers and scar-receivers; we bring that brokenness into the relationships and systems we create and sustain. The Coalition was created to promote awareness and build capacity for social change regarding the harmful impact of systematic racism on our neighbors and friends of color in Nashville and beyond. As a call to action, The Coalition will host meaningful dialogues and community-engaged learning experiences. For updates on these opportunities, visit our Facebook page or cornertocorner.org/events.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

We practice leadership development that gives community members the opportunity to lead as soon as they have been trained. We seek to do this as quickly as possible while maintaining high-quality programming.
