CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

Cul2vate faces two major challenges. (1) There is a lack of knowledge that exists in underserved communities as it pertains to the best use of nutritional food. Preparation of food isn't a priority - neither is the purchasing of expensive healthy food. We share the benefits and importance of nutritional food with the underserved community in addition to supplying recipes to educate others on preparing vegetables. (2) There is a deep dependency cycle created by our current government system making it challenging for those who are unemployed to make the transition to gainful employment. For those chronically unemployed, there is a deficiency in the pay scale for jobs for which they are qualified versus the monthly compensation they receive from our government. The gap created by the deficiency makes breaking the cycle of poverty challenging.
