Description
Currey Ingram Academy has two community outreach/education divisions: The Annette Eskind Institute of Learning and The Diagnostic Center. The Annette Eskind Institute of Learning coordinates professional development and networking opportunities for Currey Ingram parents, faculty and members of the community. Speakers range from local to national experts, many of whom are Currey Ingram faculty and staff. More information can be found at www.curreyingram.org/communityeducation. The Diagnostic Center conducts psychoeducational evaluations that evaluate a child's learning profile -- a critical tool for understanding students with learning differences. Typically, more than two-thirds of the Diagnostic Center's clients attend schools other than Currey Ingram. Find out more at www.thediagnosticcenter.org.

Description
At Currey Ingram Academy, we use small classes, Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs), Speech-language and occupational therapists, a 4:1 student-teacher ratio to address each child's needs. Multi-sensory lessons are the daily norm. According to the 2003 National Longitudinal Transition Study-2 (NLTS2), students with learning differences who receive zero or ineffective remediation "continue to lose ground as they progress through school." Specifically, the NLTS2 reports that nearly 45% of high school students will function three to five grade levels behind their non-learning disabled peers in reading and math. Neurodiverse students need more than a traditional school environment; typically, they need personalized attention to address their learning differences. Moreover, research proves that small classes with 13 or fewer students "[lead] to statistically significant improvements in reading and mathematics" (American Educational Research Association).

Description
Each of Currey Ingram's grade-level divisions implements a developmentally appropriate curriculum for character education. The school's 10 core character values (one for each month) are pride, respect, responsibility, citizenship, caring, work ethic, honesty, cooperation, perseverance and self-advocacy. From community service projects and success assemblies to school-wide behavior goals and teachable moments, character education is a part of our whole day, and our whole school. Every grade participates in community service activities, and Currey Ingram requires 30 volunteer hours from each senior.

Description
Currey Ingram kids love to toot their own horns. In fact, we encourage it. Every Currey Ingram Academy student knows his/her strengths -- and the strengths and talents of their classmates. The school offers a robust arts and athletics program as well as numerous service and enrichment opportunities. One child may play in the rock band, while another runs cross-country. One may be a podcast producer, while another competes in forensics competitions. Most students will tell you that they discovered their talents -- and their passions -- at Currey Ingram. Our one-to-one laptop program in grades 2-12 and the use of iPads for K-1 is a national model, and we partner with Apple Computers to provide the most innovative technology to our students.
