When an individual with cancer is referred to Art Helps Cancer our volunteers prepare a gift bag filled with activity books, lemon drops (which help with the metallic taste of some treatment modalities), books, shawl/comforter, and more. These items are selected to assist the person sitting through their various treatments find comfort and activities to help them through the arduous treatment process.

When a family member is going through cancer and related treatments they may have to quit working, families members may have to take leave from work to care for the ill family member. Leaving work for any amount of time may inhibit family income. At the minimum it is difficult to maintain the daily functions of home. Art helps Cancer by providing volunteers to help with house keeping, lawn care, transportation to appointments, meal preparation, etc.. In addition, Art Helps Cancer provides food gift cards for local grocery stores to assist the family.

| As Art Helps Cancer builds a reputation of positive support for cancer fighters and their families we are finding a greater number of individuals to serve. As a result we have increased our outreach to churches, service clubs, and individuals to purchase/donate items for our care caddies (gift bags). Further, our annual art auction has moved to a larger venue and increased revenue for home support to include the care caddies, weekly support cards, and home services (i.e lawn care, housekeeping, gift cards for food purchase). |
