Our Visiting Wizards program provides a variety of science outreach programs to surrounding county schools and organizations. This program was the basis for the creation of HOSC, and it was initally done at no cost to the schools. Although we now prefer the groups to visit HOSC for their presentation, we still make visits if requested. We now charge $75 per show and $1 per mile round trip. This covers the cost of staff and supplies.

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

Our programs are in demand by schools and our visitors. All STEM programs are implemented by one full time and several part time employees plus many volunteers. Each program is designed to meet the HOSC mission statement - Be the spark that ignites a passion for exploration and innovation! The HOSC homeschool programs have been very popular and are well-attended. Teachers are given the opportunity to choose the topic of discussion from a set list. We can also create a new program for teachers if there is a particular topic they want covered or develop programs within the Tennessee Education standards. Our Center has updated and added new exhibits ... one of which is the famed 'Recollections' exhibit which fuses art and technology into a beautiful technological wonder of movement. Many others are planned and in the works! Very important to our operation is the Visiting Wizard program where we travel to schools or clubs and present a professional show in the various fields of science. These programs were the basis and the very foundation of the Hands-On Science Center.
