CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

Since stepping into the role of President/CEO (formerly Executive Director) of Senior Citizens of Hendersonville, Inc., we have been faced with many challenges, one of which is funding. As with many not-for-profit organizations, we face challenges much differently than most for-profit businesses do, simply because donations are our major source of funding. Then, funding becomes our major source of stress, in that while we can gauge what our partial source of funding may be (grants) - in a round about way, the yet unknown are the Individual and Corporate donors. We can have great amounts in one year, and then much less the following year. We simply never know, which is why I believe my job and that of our staff, as well as the job of each and every board member is to continually build awareness and help with the branding of our organization both within our community as well as outside our community. By continuing to add new and innovative programming, we gain new members, or as I refer to them as 'feet in the door.' With these new 'feet', I believe are making great strides in our awareness-building efforts.
