CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments
In 2017 our national office restructured the entire organization across the country. The number of state or local affiliates reduced from 200+ to 50. We are proud that our affiliate is the only recognized affiliate in Tennessee at this time. Initially we saw a drop in membership due to member confusion, but NAAEYC worked hard to increase member awareness, and through a membership drive initiative, doubled it membership in less than a year. Our goal is to increase services and benefits for our members and to encourage early educators and administrators to become part of this highly recognized professional organization. NAAEYC created a tiered sponsorship program and have had five significant organizations join and provide support. We continue to work hard seeking partnerships with other organizations who are proud to sponsor high quality learning environments for young children in Tennessee. Our April conference was financially successful due to a generous grant that covered most of our expenses. Without the support of community organizations NAAEYC would be struggling to provide high quality services to our members in the early childhood community. Being the only NAEYC affiliate in Tennessee means we have the potential to grow into a state affiliation, able to serve members across Tennessee and not just middle TN. The future is bright for growth as we strive to increase member benefits and services. Our membership has grown from 450 to 1450 in the past two years! |
