CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments
Please note that our income projections for 2021 were kept low due to our concerns about COVID. Due to COVID we anticipated less enrollments in our TN Naturalist Program classes. By pivoting quickly, using more technology, offering additional continuing education classes, and the support of our board and our chapter leaders our actual income, as of the end of August 2021, is $46,000. In 2021, we have grown our number of Chapters where the TNP Tennessee Naturalist Core Course is offered from 10 chapters across the state to 11. Our newest chapter is in Murfreesboro, Tennessee in partnership with the City of Murfreesboro Park and Recreation Department. The Tennessee Naturalist Program is an education course designed to introduce the natural history of Tennessee to interested adults and certify Tennessee Naturalists. Our mission is to teach Tennesseans about our natural world, inspire the desire to learn more, instill an appreciation of responsible environmental stewardship, and channel volunteer efforts toward education of the general public and conservation of Tennessee's natural resources. Each year our students, Certified Tennessee Naturalists, and alumni donate over 7,000 volunteer hours to help preserve the natural resources of Tennessee. |
