Shawn's Experience: Shawn Bakker is an accomplished nonprofit executive and social entrepreneur. Her career has taken her from hands-on work with low-income immigrant families to leadership roles in complex global organizations. She has 18 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, development and communications. Her most recent roles have included Executive Publisher of The Upper Room, Deputy General Secretary of Communications and Development, and Director of The Advance and Development for the General Board of Global Ministries for the United Methodist Church.Prior to her involvement with Global Ministries, Shawn was the founder and director of Project Transformation, a not-for-profit organization in Dallas that connected young adults seeking leadership opportunities to urban communities. She has extensive experience managing teams of up to 75 staff and operating budgets of more than $17 million. Shawn has a certificate in Fundraising from NYU and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). She has a proven track record in donor cultivation, revenue growth and oversight of multi-million dollar campaigns. Shawn graduated from Perkins School of Theology with a Masters of Theological Studies and from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota, with an education/psychology degree.
