The premier leadership organization for women's professional advancement

Background

CABLE was formed as a program of the YWCA of Middle TN in an effort to help professional women break through some of the gender barriers that existed in the late 1970's. Over the last 36+ years, those efforts have become more refined and CABLE has become Tennessee's largest and most established netowork of professionals helping women reach their full potential both personally and professionally. With almost 500 members, the organization's mission of 'Moving Women Forward' has shaped its networking programs, advocacy initiatives, leadership opportunities and professional mentoring.

Impact

CABLE creates opportunities for women at all stages of their careers. The diversity of our organization is evident by our age which goes from young professionals on up to our senior level executives. 87% or our members have Bachelors degrees or better. Our membership and leadership is ethnically diverse. Our members come from the business, nonprofit and government sectors of the community. Our programs and initiatives cover subjects ranging from diversity/inclusion and civic outreach to networking and women on corporate boards. We offer leadership development training and mentoring opportunities at many different levels. We do that through events, leadership development and monthly programs. CABLE is also the lead organization in Tennessee to advance the cause of getting more women on corporate boards.

Needs

CABLE is looking for community support to advance our initiatives in the area of women on corporate boards and gender equity in general. We are working toward raising the awareness of issues related to women. We welcome those who will help us spread the word.
