Description
To combat isolation for people living with mental health conditions, build social confidence, and foster social relations, NAMI Davidson Co. launched a peer social engagement group called Friends Supporting Friends. This is a virtual meetup three times a month on Zoom that is regularly attended by 8-16 people.

Description
NAMI on Campus Clubs are a NAMI national signature program targeting stress, wellbeing and stigma on College campuses. A youth Coordinator has been hired to establish and empower students in the development of NAMI on Campus Clubs in Nashville Area universities and colleges. This includes historically black colleges (HBC), and schools of medicine, law, music, faith, social work, research, occupational therapy and athletics. In addition this position is establishing collaborative ties with other organizations working in foster care, Systems of Care in Tennessee, and ACEs.
Program Successes
A successful program will have secured a chair, co-chair, and identified rising junior or sophomore for the following year. They will have registered with their school as an official club, or otherwise defined entity within the school. Several outreach/wellness activities will have been carried out. Students will have become versed in on-campus and local off-campus crisis resources, and will have gained awareness of signs of mental health distress.

The program is looking to establish self-sustaining programs positively impacting the wellbeing of youth. This will positively affect their ability to engage in education, careers development, build social confidence and spread a message of positivity and compassion for people experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and schizotypal disorders. They will also become messengers for awareness, amplifying the groups reach within each campus setting. Long term is to create clubs in at least 20 universities and college in the Nashville Area, and collect data along the way to measure the number of events each group holds, and the number of individuals they connect with. This program also seeks to create suicide prevention awareness, and awareness and lay intervention to supportive resources.
Short-term Success
Establish five NAMI ON Campus Clubs on five campuses in the Nashville area by May 2023. Identify leadership, and sustaining members. Assist/support student leadership in mapping out activities unique to their campuses in support of a compassionate, welcoming and stigma-free environment.

NAMI Davidson brings a message of MENTAL WELLNESS to all that is does. The overall goal of outreach is to instill hope in people with mental health issues and their families to restore them to the lives of their choosing. In fiscal year 20179 NAMI Davidson connected with over 7100 people throughout the county. Description
NAMI Davidson Co. is the first NAMI affiliated chapter to offer FAMILY & FRIENDS, a 2-hour seminar directed at family members and significant other caregivers in the lives of teens and adults with mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders. The seminar acts a primer to the agency's intensive multi-session evidenced-based Family to Family class. Family to Family is peer-based NAMI national signature program. Within the 2-hour session participants will be given an overview of topics to be covered in the full class such as: schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, major depression, PTSD, OCD, and other mental health issues. Caregiver peers will share a little about their own journeys and how NAMI has been an effective support in their family's box of coping strategies. A brief overview of local resources will be shared. Description
With Hope in Mind is a peer to peer program of free support groups and Fam ily 2 Family education classes for loved ones of adults (18 years and older) with severe and persistent mental health issues. Utilizing a program that has been measured and evaluated for its effectiveness, NAMI Davidson hosts two free support groups in the Greater Nashville Area. One is held through partnership with Vanderbilt Behavioral Health Hospital the other at a local church. A third group, the first faith-based support group is planned for East Nashville in early 2016. Group process follows a format that invites members of the public into a welcoming, accepting, confidential environment. First and last names are used as there is no shame in loving, supporting and advocating for someone with a mental health issue.
Program Successes
Families share with us a new found understanding , admiration and compassionfor their loved ones with mental illness. Comments on our evaluations tell us they are listening more, using the "I messages" we are teaching them to positive effect, and are asking to become advocates in policy and legislation that impacts mental health issues and funding.

70% of the people taking the class report a better ability to communicate with a loved one with mental illness, a better understanding of mental health conditions and increased empathy, better self-care for caregiver and a rfeduction of crisis in the home
Short-term Success
Every year NAMI Davidson has at least 25 caregivers complete its intensive caregiver education class. Each yearover 350 individual visits are made to our support group locations.

Description
A NAMI national signature program of personal journeys into mental health and co-occuring recovery. NAMI Davidson IOOV volunteers trained in the model deliver the story of their lived experience. They take the audience through four stages of their life journey that includes the impact of mental health issues on their lives, their struggles for acceptance, through treatment, and finally into a life of their making. The program is empowering for the presenters and inspiring for the audience. Last year the program was shared with over 350 people. NAMI Davidson has a Letter of Agreement with the Mental Health Cooperative at Metro Center to provide the presentation as part of their monthly New Employee Orientation. IOOV volunteers help new staff who work with people with mental illness, see what mental wellness looks like. People trained in the program also share their stories in our Faith Outreach programs, and in university classes across several campuses.

According to post presentation evaluations 80% of the people receiving this presentation have learned new information about mental illness and understand that mental illness is a physical condition and not someone's fault. The program has been delivered to over 1000 people at the Mental Health Coooperatives New Employee orientations over the last three years. It helps people who will be working with people with mental illness, to understand what mental wellness looks like and that recovery is possible.

Description
StigmaFree Company is a new NAMI national signature program presented in the work place by NAMI Davidson. Materials for the program have been specifically designed for Supervisors or Employees. A work place poster is included. NAMI Davidson will usually connect with the HR department prior to presentation to see what resources are already in place within a company. Presentations range from 60 minutes to 90 minutes depending on the company. Information on mental health conditions as whole issues is presented and resources are shared. Encouragement for compassion, not just for the person with mental health issues, but also for family members providing caregiving. Changing attitudes to encourage people to get help early with the support of their employer. Presentations have been made to Ernst & Young, AT&T and the FDIC in Nashville.
