CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

I began as the new executive director mid-January and was tasked with creating the current fiscal year's budget. I am still learning all aspects of the operations but here are some key initiatives I am implementing to help our organization be more efficient, fiscally responsible, increase donor engagement, and grow our revenue opportunities. One key factor will be our migration to Bloomerang. Rejoice did not have a donor database and I found that we used several different sources to accomplish each aspect of our business. Bloomerang worked with us to establish ways for us to house donors, students and foundations in the same place. We will also be able to run tuition, events, grant management and ticket sales all through the same database. Additionally I am adding a Director of School Operations as I found that we had too many part time employees each completing one portion of a task. This was causing an inefficient model and lack of communication, while our customer service became less than exceptional. The new position will start May 16, 2022 and bring a consistency to our school operations as well as improved communication for our families. Finally, when I started our board of directors was only five individuals and they had been through the founder's retirement and two rounds of a new director search. They wholeheartedly approved the initiative to grow the board to between ten to fifteen individuals. We plan to do this as quickly as possible and are working to identify individuals with expertise in areas such as fundraising, governance, human resources, and education. Recruitment has started and we hope to have new board members join their first meeting in August 2022. Rejoice is an inspiring organization with extremely loyal supporters, families and employees. It is over 20 years old and with some new systems in place, will be poised for 20 more and continued growth.
