CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments
Building Better Lives by Empowering Communities and Changing Lives has been and continues to be the work and mission of the Urban League of Middle Tennessee. For the past 56 years, the Urban League has ensured that residents of Middle Tennessee have the opportunity to reach their full potential as contributing members of our community. We've accomplished this by offering an extensive range of economic, social and development services to a diverse group of Tennesseans in our nine-county service area of Cheatham, Nashville/Davidson, Dickson, Montgomery, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson. As the needs of the communities and citizens we serve have continued to grow and evolve, the need for an adequate investment of resources continues to challenge our organization. We have been fortunate in recent years to receive restrictive funding from sources primarily focused on workforce and economic development, however our programs and services targeting other parts of our mission including health and quality of life, youth and education, social justice and civic engagement, and organizational operations continue to be challenged financially. |
