CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments
For the American National Red Cross, monetary contributions from corporations, individuals and foundations rose 6 percent over FY15. (This doesn't reflect international disaster fundraising activity, which was down due to a drop in international disasters.) Total operating expenses dropped by over $175 million largely driven by efficiencies in our operations, systems and administrative costs. The American National Red Cross has the necessary cash on hand to continue delivering services to the public, even though our financial statements show certain long-term assets declined and liabilities increased in FY16. |
Foundation Staff Comments
The Red Cross is Exempt from Charitable Solicitations. **The Red Cross has gone through a national and regional re-organization in recent years; therefore, their tax documents and audits reflect different geographical areas for those years.** Prior to 2013, financial data on specific chapters came from internal documents provided by ARC. Asset and liability information not provided. In FY2013, financial data displayed in charts and graphs represents the Tennessee Volunteer Region and is taken from the full Audited Financial Statements. In 2014, a region-specific attachment to the audit was not available. The GivingMatters.com staff has been instructed by the ARC to use NATIONAL numbers moving forward. Beginning in 2014, data taken from National Audited Financial Statements. Red Cross chapters are not required to file individual 990s or conduct separate audits.
