CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments

For meetings and activities, we use relay interpreters to interpret for individuals who are deaf-blind who use tactile interpreting, or close interpreting. Our relay interpreters, many of whom are deaf, copy the platform interpreters. Therefore it is very important that we use certified interpreters to assure that the individuals who are deaf-blind get the correct information. This is very expensive. We should also be including CART, even more expensive. Our retreats/camps are also costly because our Support Service Providers and program staff, who are volunteers, come for a $25.00 fee which pays for their membership, insurance and T-shirts. We pay room and board. We were able to get a grant to pay for the SSPs for the 2012 camp, but we will still have to raise the money for our program staff. We will also need funds to continue and expand our SSP Project and to expand our activities. We need an additional board member who is good with fund raising, and grant writing, and has the time to do both.

Foundation Staff Comments

This organization filed a 990-N form with the IRS, which does not provide specific financial information. Most small tax-exempt organizations whose annual gross receipts are normally $50,000 or less ($25,000 for tax years ending after December 31, 2007 and before December 31, 2010) are required to electronically submit Form 990-N, also known as thee-Postcard, unless they choose to file a complete Form 990 or Form 990-EZ instead No Form 990-N is available for 2012.
